GLENROTHES MSP MEETS WITH SUCCESSFUL INTERNSHIP CANDIDATES
Published date : 16 Mar 2020
Jenny Gilruth, MSP for Mid Fife and Glenrothes, recently met with the successful applicants of her Schools Internship Scheme 2020 at her constituency office in Markinch.
Ms Gilruth announced her inaugural internship scheme in January, with the aim of giving one senior pupil from each high school in her constituency an insight into how a local MSP’s office works.
Tia McEwan from Glenwood High School, Jamie Kerr from Auchmuty High School, and Faye Williams from Glenrothes High School were successful in their applications and will each complete a week’s work experience.
The internships will take place in June 2020 and will be based in both Jenny’s constituency office in Markinch and the Scottish Parliament.
As a Living Wage Employer, Ms Gilruth will ensure each intern is paid the living wage whilst working for her.
Commenting after the meeting, the MSP said:
“I was delighted to meet with the successful applicants from my 2020 School Internship Scheme, Tia, Jamie, and Faye this afternoon in Markinch.
“The successful applicants will have a full and varied week when they join my hardworking team and will support my work on behalf of my constituents.
“I look forward to welcoming each student to my team, and I am glad to be able to give them the opportunity to gain an insight into how Scottish politics works.”
