GILRUTH WELCOMES LOTTERY FUNDING FOR LARGO COMMUNITY LIBRARY
Published date : 02 Nov 2018
Fife MSP Jenny Gilruth has welcomed news that Largo Library and Community Hub is to receive a £5,689 grant from the Big Lottery Fund Scotland.
The funding will be used to buy equipment which will improve the facilities in the library. The library was previously operated by Fife Council, who closed a number libraries in 2015, including Largo Library in Lundin Links. The library is now run as a community hub.
Ms Gilruth has lodged a motion to the Scottish Parliament to celebrate the local library’s funding grant. (A copy of the motion is noted at the foot of this email).
Commenting on the announcement, Jenny Gilruth MSP said:
“Largo Community Library provides a vital resource in Lundin Links and begin. Local people will recall Fife Council’s short sighted decision to close 16 libraries across the Kingdom in 2015. Largo library only survives because of the resolute dedication and commitment from local volunteers.
I am, therefore, absolutely delighted the library has been awarded this funding from the Big Lottery and I very much look forward to visiting again soon to see for myself the new investment in facilities’.
