Praise For Leven’s HM Coastguard Service from Local MSP

Published date : 05 Nov 2018

Leven MSP, Jenny Gilruth, was delighted to meet with the town’s HM Coastguard Team to learn more about their work in the local area during a recent visit.

Ms Gilruth met with Senior Coastal Operations Officer, Joe Mitchell, to learn more about the voluntary rescue service.

Local volunteers here in Leven may be called upon at any time of day or night, often working long hours in hazardous conditions.

Speaking after the visit, Jenny Gilruth MSP said:

“It was great to take the time to visit Leven’s Coastguard Rescue Service. It was a pleasure to meet with Joe and his team to discuss the invaluable service they offer our area.

“The voluntary team here in Leven really do make a difference, standing by to offer a potentially life-saving service 24 hours a day.

Senior Coastal Operations Officer, Joe Mitchell, added:

“I was delighted to see our local MSP taking such a keen interest in HM Coastguard Rescue Service. It was fantastic to speak with Jenny about our role in the wider community and how the Rescue Service fit into the wider emergency services.

“We are always on the lookout for hard-working, keen volunteers who would be interesting in taking up such a rewarding role.”

Volunteers are encouraged to contact for further information.
