Glenrothes Gazette/East Fife Mail Column – Published 23 August 2023

As we approach the final days of the Scottish Parliament’s summer recess, I am pleased to provide another update on my work in my constituency. Last week, I visited McDonald Water Storage in Glenrothes, who were recently awarded the Family Business Award at the Fife Business Awards.  I also met with Allun from Wright’s K9 Security Services to hear about their work in the security industry. Getting out and about in the constituency is a highlight of my job, and it was great to meet with two successful local businesses to hear about their work and the values that inform them.

I was also pleased to be invited along to Persimmon Homes’ West Mill development in Markinch last week to learn more about their affordable housing programme. The development received over £1.5 million of funding from the SNP-led Scottish Government and includes 23 homes for social rent. I heard from Kingdom Housing Association about their work to deliver these homes to people in need of social housing. It was great to see local progress on Scottish Government’s bold agenda to deliver 100,000 affordable homes by 2031/32, in partnership with the private sector and local government. These new properties, and the ones that follow, will make a real difference to constituents on the Fife Housing Register.

I held three constituency advice surgeries last week, in Upper Largo, Lundin Links and Leven to round off my summer surgery tour. Over the summer recess, I’ve met with constituents across Mid Fife and Glenrothes to provide advice, support and information about a range of issues.  Being accessible and approachable for constituents is a vital part of an MSP’s role and representing my constituents will always be my top priority.

On Friday, my constituency team and I took some time to plan my constituency meetings and surgeries in advance of the new parliamentary term, and I am looking forward to a busy few weeks of Scottish Government and MSP engagements. My surgery dates for the coming weeks will shortly be published online, and you can phone my constituency office on 01592 764815 for details. My team and I are on hand to assist constituents with any new enquiries and continue to make representations on behalf of my constituents.
