MSP OPENS CONSTITUENCY OFFICE FOODBANK DONATION POINT

Published date : 09 Apr 2020

Mid Fife and Glenrothes MSP, Jenny Gilruth, has opened a foodbank donation point in her constituency office in Markinch to help individuals and families in need during the COVID-19 outbreak.

The MSP is calling for donations of items such as: UHT milk, toiletries, tinned food and cleaning products, to help those who are struggling local. A full list of items most urgently needed is available on the MSP’s social media.

All donations are done without contact with staff to reflect government advice to minimise social contact. The door will be unlocked, and you are asked to leave your donation in the box and see yourself out.

The door at 12 Commercial Street, Markinch, KY7 6DE, will be unlocked for access to the donation box from 10am – 4pm, Monday to Friday.

Collections will be shared between both Glenrothes and Levenmouth foodbanks.

Commenting after the opening of the donation point, Ms Gilruth said:

“I was pleased to be able to open the front section of my office up as a foodbank donation point today to help individuals and families in need during these unprecedented circumstances.

“This is a difficult time for everyone and it is important to do what we can to help others who are struggling at this time and in urgent need of the essentials.

“In the coming days and weeks, I ask that you follow the Scottish Government’s advice to shop considerately – only buy what you and your family need and, if you can, a little extra to make a foodbank donation.”
