GLENROTHES MSP HOSTS MARIE CURIE TEA PARTY

Published date : 12 Sep 2019

Jenny Gilruth MSP for Mid Fife and Glenrothes hosted her Marie Curie Blooming Great Tea Party in Coaltown of Balgonie Bowling Club last Friday.

The tea party, which ran in conjunction with the Glenrothes Marie Curie Fundraising Group, raised over £280 that will go directly towards helping Marie Curie Nurses care for more people living with a terminal illness across the UK.

A range of Fifers attended the tea party, which had teas and coffees generously laid on by the Bowling Club, a wide range of homemade cakes which were donated from local bakers and residents, and an extensive tombola and raffle.

Commenting after the event, the MSP said:

“I was delighted to be able to host my own Blooming Great Tea Party, with the Glenrothes Marie Curie Fundraising group, in Coaltown of Balgonie.

“I want to extend my gratitude to the fundraising group here in Glenrothes who played a huge part in the success of the morning, to the team at Balgonie Bowling Club who kindly donated the hall and beverages, and to everyone else who came, donated and supported the cause.

“Marie Curie is a vitally important organisation that provides crucial care and support for people living with a terminal illness both nationally and within my constituency. Raising funds in the local community for such a crucial organisation is a big step towards increasing national awareness.”

The Chair of the Glenrothes and area Fundraising Group, Janet Henry, said:

“The money raised at the recent Tea Party hosted by Jenny Gilruth will help to support the work of Marie Curie here in Fife and will provide around 15 hours of nursing care. Without support like this, our nurses would be unable to continue their work.”

Jim Stewart, the Community Fundraiser for Marie Curie in Fife, added:

“The group are a fantastic asset to Marie Curie and we can’t thank them enough for giving up their time to support the charity. Their drive, enthusiasm and dedication is an inspiration to us all.”
