Published date : 15 Aug 2019

Leven’s MSP, Jenny Gilruth, this week joined Scottish Government Minister for Trade, Investment & Innovation, Ivan McKee MSP, on a visit to Diageo’s Leven packaging plant to present the company’s top global manufacturing award to the team there.

The local MSP and the Trade Minister toured the plant and presented two trophies to mark Leven being named Diageo’s top performing manufacturing site in the last financial year.

For the financial year ending in June 2019, Leven was named ‘Packaging Plant of the Year’ and ‘Site of the Year’ in recognition of performance across a range of measures including productivity and health & safety.

Presenting the award, Ms Gilruth MSP, said:

“It was an absolute pleasure to be in Leven today to visit Diageo with my colleague, Trade Minister Ivan McKee MSP, to meet with the hardworking staff and present them with their award in recognition of their fantastic efforts in becoming Diageo’s leading global supply chain site.

“Diageo Leven is a major employer in my constituency and it is wonderful to see it being recognised at a global level for the excellent work the people here do. Congratulations go to everyone who works at Leven on this terrific achievement.”

The Scottish Government Minister, Ivan McKee MSP, added:

“Growing global exports is at the heart of the Scottish Government’s economic ambitions and I was delighted to learn more about the contribution Diageo’s Leven packaging plant is making to that goal.”

Commenting on behalf of Diageo, Leven Operations Director Gavin Brogan said:

“It is a great source of pride for everyone at Leven to be named Diageo’s top supply chain site for the past year.

“It is recognition of the hard work and commitment of everyone at the site to driving continuous improvement in our performance to make us a truly world class manufacturing plant.”
