MARKINCH PUPIL SCOOPS MSP’s CHRISTMAS CARD COMPETITION
Poppie Jenkins, a Primary 7 pupil at Markinch Primary School, has been crowned the winner of local MSP, Jenny Gilruth’s annual Christmas card competition.
This year’s competition theme is The Year of Young People for 2018. Poppies’s colourful design features a reindeer whose nose uses the Year of Young People logo. The Christmas card is sponsored by local business Greens of Markinch.
Jenny Gilruth MSP attended Markinch Primary School on Friday to present Poppie with her certificate and prize and to invite Poppie’s class to visit the Scottish Parliament in the New Year. Commenting on the day, Poppie said:
“I was really surprised that I won, lots of my classmates made really good cards. It was a lot of fun to do. I am excited to go to the Scottish Parliament, but my brother it going to be jealous, he really likes Politics”.
Greens of Markinch Owner, Harris Aslam, said:
“We’re delighted to be supporting Markinch Primary School and Jenny Gilruth with this year’s Christmas Card competition.
It was pleasing to see the pupils so actively involved in the competition. An enormous well done for all participants and a particular congratulations to Poppie for a beautiful winning card design”
Commenting, Jenny Gilruth MSP said:
“Markinch Primary 7 pupils have excelled themselves this year – I’d like to say a huge thank you to everyone for taking part. 2018 has been about the Year of Young People, so it’s a great opportunity to end the year by celebrating their talents.
I’d like to thank Poppie again for her excellent Christmas Card design and I look forward to welcoming Markinch Primary School to the Scottish Parliament in the new year’.
