LOCAL MSP TO WELCOME HUMZA YOUSAF MSP WITH CAMPAIGNERS AT ROAD
Mid Fife & Glenrothes MSP Jenny Gilruth has confirmed she will welcome the Scottish Government Transport Minister, Humza Yousaf MSP, to meet local campaigners at a visit to the A92 road in the Glenrothes area this summer.
The visit follows a meeting between Jenny Gilruth MSP, Humza Yousaf MSP and local campaigners from North Glenrothes Community Council on 23rd March 2017 to discuss safety on the A92. The road has been the subject of safety concerns due to “worrying” casualty statistics.
The Transport Minister has previously indicated that consideration would be given to the dualling of the A92 in the upcoming review of the Strategic Transport Projects Review. Conflict Studies are currently underway at the Balfarg and Cadham junctions and video surveys have already been undertaken.
Commenting, Jenny Gilruth MSP said:
“Road safety on the A92 is a real concern in the Mid Fife & Glenrothes constituency, and it’s important that measures are taken to improve the worrying casualty statistics. As one of the main roads in the area, we can’t allow these concerns to be overlooked.
“I am delighted that the Transport Minister has listened to the concerns raised by local campaigners and look forward to welcoming him to see the issues first-hand. I will be contacting North Glenrothes Community Council shortly to find a mutually agreeable date.”
