LABOUR BROKEN PROMISES LETTING PEOPLE DOWN

The SNP has won its 5th by-election in a row, as the party celebrates the election of its newest SNP councillor in Glenrothes central and Thornton, Lynda Holton.

The SNP won 48% the first preference votes – more than double that of the Labour Party.

The SNP’s Jenny Gilruth said:

“The Glenrothes by-election result is a fantastic victory for the SNP, marking our 5th by-election win in a row. I’m delighted for our new SNP councillor, Lynda Holton, who I know will work tirelessly for local people and communities.

“Under John Swinney’s leadership, the SNP is delivering on the issues that matter most to the people of Scotland.  We took this positive message to doorsteps across the area and offered them a real alternative to the Westminster status quo which is inflicting so much damage on Scotland – and we are confidently taking that message to the people of Hamilton, Larkhall and Stonehouse in the by-election in June.

“On the doorsteps it was overwhelmingly clear how let down people were with Labour’s broken promises – whether its rising energy bills, scrapping the Winter Fuel Payment, betraying WASPI women or inflicting billions of pounds of cuts on disabled people.

“In stark contrast, the people of Scotland know that the SNP will always be on their side and deliver on their priorities – from increasing capacity in our NHS, making it easier for people to see their GP, bringing back universal winter heating support or investing in our public services.”

SNP Councillor Lynda Holton said:

“It is an honour to be elected to represent the people and communities of Glenrothes central and Thornton, and I look forward to helping to improve the lives of local people across the ward.

“This is a fantastic result for the SNP and a big vote of confidence in our commitment to continue improving the lives of the people in Glenrothes.

“In the face of Labour’s broken promises and damaging cuts, I was proud to offer local people the opportunity to vote SNP for a better a future and a local champion who will always put them first.

“I look forward to working hard for everyone in the area and standing up for them against a Labour Party that is treating Scotland like an afterthought.”
