Annual arts festival illustrates best of local talent
Tuesday 25th July 2023
Local Fife MSP, Jenny Gilruth, has praised the organisers of another successful Largo Arts week. The MSP joined visitors and locals in celebrating the fourth annual Arts Week and enjoyed spending time meeting with local creatives.
Largo Arts Week, which ran from 15-23 July 2023, is a community arts festival featuring artists, music, performances and family events. The event allows the public access to meet with 60 local artists across 37 studios working on projects including paintings, glassware, sculptures and jewellery.
Commenting on the festival, constituency MSP Jenny Gilruth said:
“Largo Arts Week is a real highlight of the summer calendar – popular with locals and visitors alike, the festival is a thriving mixture of local creativity with visitors from all over Scotland and beyond. This year was no exception, with an amazing display of talent from local residents and artists.
“I was delighted to have the opportunity to attend such a wonderful local festival – getting the chance to talk to artists and creatives is always a highlight for me.
“I am extremely grateful to all those involved in organising another successful Largo Arts Week – they undertake a huge amount of voluntary work every year and it is through their efforts that the creativity of the Largos is now firmly on the map.”
Largo resident and Arts Week studio holder, Susan McMillan, from SuziBlue Jewellery, also added:
“Largo Arts Week is a fantastic event for the whole community, with 60 artists, music, comedy and so much more, something for everyone.
I just love the fact that the criteria for this event is that you have to live within a 5-mile radius of the villages, which shows all the local talent!”
