JENNY GILRUTH MSP WELCOMES RETURN TO FULL-TIME SCHOOLING
Published date : 23 Jun 2020
Mid Fife and Glenrothes MSP, Jenny Gilruth, has welcomed the announcement that schools are set to return full-time from August, if Scotland continues to make progress on suppressing the coronavirus. Commenting, the former Fife teacher said:
“My thanks goes to the united effort of people across Mid Fife and Glenrothes, and Scotland, who have stuck to the government’s advice on Covid19. We have now made significant progress in the fight against COVID-19 and as such, the Cabinet Secretary for Education, John Swinney, confirmed in the Scottish Parliament chamber this afternoon that full-time schooling will resume from August – if we continue to make progress in suppressing Coronavirus. This is an important step not only in ensuring our young people get the education they deserve, but it’s also positive news for working families.
“I want to send my gratitude to our amazing teachers and school staff in Fife who have helped us get to this stage. There’s a lot of work ahead of us, but this SNP Scottish Government continues to work hard to support families and communities across the country.”
