Commenting on the new funding for her constituency, Leven MSP Jenny Gilruth said:

“I welcome the new £66,000 funding grant for Fife Gingerbread – an organisation which does fantastic worthwhile work in my constituency and beyond.

“The opportunity that has been presented by Young Start, a programme which aims to support youth-led projects, is going to have a positive impact in the community and I am pleased to see that young people are at the heart of the project design and delivery.

“Programmes such as Young Start are not only working hard towards the aim of more youth-led projects in Scotland, but are also a great example of the wonderful work that can be produced by young people.”

Young Start is a multi-million-pound programme delivered by the Big Lottery Fund. The fund awards dormant bank accounts monies to projects that help children and young people thrive and realise their potential. Groups that involve young people in the design, running and evaluation of projects can apply for grants from £10k to £100k for activities that focus on changing the lives of children and young people between eight and 24 years of age.
