TOWN’S MSP VISITS CREW AT GLENROTHES FIRE STATION
Glenrothes MSP, Jenny Gilruth, was delighted to meet with the team at the town’s Community Fire Station to learn more about their work in the local area, during a recent visit.
Ms Gilruth also met with Alasdair Perry, Deputy Assistant Chief Officer for the East of Scotland, to discuss the proposed transformation of the Scottish Fire and Rescue Service.
Glenrothes Fire Station covers an area which contains over 24,000 properties. As well as serving and advising local community groups, Glenrothes crews have visited local schools and offered young people fire safety training through the Duke of Edinburgh Award Scheme.
The Fife MSP was also shown an interactive skills demonstration by members of the duty crew.
Commenting on the visit, Jenny Gilruth MSP said:
“I was delighted to take the time to visit the local community fire station here in Glenrothes.
“It was a real pleasure to meet with members of the local crew to discuss their invaluable work in the town and the wider community.
“Our firefighters are some of the most heroic and dedicated public servants – I was delighted to meet with some of the local team who work to keep Fife safe on a daily basis.
“It was also fascinating to learn more about how local teams in Glenrothes support firefighters all over the country – service integration is now sharing expertise nationally”.
Alasdair Perry, of the Scottish Fire and Rescue Service added:
“We were very pleased to welcome Ms Gilruth recently to Glenrothes Community Fire Station, and to offer an insight into the work of the Service both locally and nationally.
“Our dedicated crews work tirelessly to keep our communities safe – from engaging with young children to empower them and teach important safety advice, to supporting the most elderly and vulnerable stay safe within their homes.
“There is no doubt that our firefighters serve at the very heart of their communities.”
