MOTION TO CONGRATULATE IAIN MATTHEW

Jenny Gilruth MSP has lodged a motion (S5M-06300: “Congratulations to Iain Matthew”) asking the Scottish Parliament to congratulate Iain Matthew and the members of the Scotland team taking part in the tri-national amputee football tournament in the Netherlands on Friday 23rd June.
The motion text reads:
“That the Parliament congratulates Iain Matthew, who is from Markinch, and the other members of the Scotland team, who will represent the country when it take parts in international amputee football for the first time on 23 June 2017 at a tri-national tournament in the Netherlands; acknowledges that Iain, who is former world record holder in the 100 and 200 metre breast stroke and won Gold in swimming at the 1992 Paralympics and represented Scotland at the 1994 Commonwealth Games, has helped the football team secure funding from the Muir Group, which, along with support given by Amputee Football Association Scotland, will allow the players to take part in the tournament against the Netherlands and Germany, and wishes the team every success at the competition and in its future matches.”
