Published date : 27 Sep 2018
Jenny Gilruth, MSP for Mid Fife & Glenrothes has welcomed the news that NHS Fife has this week approved the use of new technology that will help Type-1 patients monitor glucose levels. The new technology was approved by NHS Fife at the Board meeting at the Victoria Hospital earlier today.
Over the past year the MSP has been corresponding with NHS Fife and the Cabinet Secretary for Health raising concerns about the inconvenience caused to Type 1 Diabetes sufferers who require to inject insulin regularly on a daily basis.
Commenting, Ms Gilruth said “I am delighted to hear that the approval has been given for Freestyle Libre, a glucose monitoring device. This is great news for diabetes patients and I am delighted that many of my constituents will benefit from this device, which uses a small sensor placed on the back of the arm to monitor blood glucose levels.”
