MOTION TO CONGRATULATE SEONAID AITKEN, GLASGOW JAZZ FESTIVAL WINNER

Jenny Gilruth MSP has lodged a motion (S5M-06630: “Congratulations to Glasgow Jazz Festival Winner, Seonaid Aitken”) asking the Scottish Parliament to congratulate Seonaid Aitken on winning the Best Vocalist Award at the Glasgow Jazz Festival 2017.
The motion text reads:
“That the Parliament congratulates the Glenrothes jazz singer and BBC Radio Scotland broadcaster, Seonaid Aitken, on winning the Best Vocalist Award at the Glasgow Jazz Festival 2017; acknowledges that Seonaid is a BBC Radio Scotland presenter on Jazz Nights at the Quay, as well as the Honorary President of the Glenrothes Amateur Musical Association; understands that Seonaid is also a violinist, pianist and composer/orchestrator, as well as a jazz singer, and has played regularly for many years with the Orchestra of Scottish Opera; acknowledges that the award was sponsored by Brunswick Merchant City Hotel; commends the Glasgow Jazz Festival on a successful year, and hopes that both its success and this achievement will encourage others in Mid Fife and Glenrothes to enjoy and participate in the Scottish jazz scene.”
